How to use the CSV to JSON Converter
- Paste CSV whose first row holds the column names. You can copy cells straight from Excel or Google Sheets and pick Tab as the delimiter.
- Leave Detect numbers & booleans on to get
1250.5andtrueinstead of strings. - Choose the indent, then click Copy.
How the conversion works
Each row after the header becomes one object, and each header cell becomes a key:
id,name,paid 1042,Somchai,true
becomes
[
{ "id": 1042, "name": "Somchai", "paid": true }
]
- Quoted fields like
"Lee, Ann"keep their commas, and doubled quotes""become a single quote. - Type detection converts plain numbers,
true,falseandnull. Turn it off to keep every value as text, which is safer for IDs with leading zeros. - Blank lines are skipped.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a header row?
Yes. The first row is used as the JSON keys for every object.
Can I paste directly from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Copied cells are tab-separated, so choose Tab as the delimiter.
Why did my ZIP code lose its leading zero?
Number detection turned it into a number. Untick Detect numbers & booleans to keep all values as strings.
Is my CSV uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
