GitHub-flavored Markdown
The preview follows GitHub-flavored Markdown (GFM), the version used for READMEs, issues and pull requests on GitHub and GitLab. It adds tables, task lists, strikethrough and automatic links to the original Markdown syntax. The look of the preview is close to GitHub's, although exact spacing differs.
Safe preview
Markdown can contain raw HTML. The preview cleans it with DOMPurify, so pasted scripts and event handlers are removed and can't run. The same cleaned HTML is what you copy or download.
Frequently asked questions
Is my text saved anywhere?
Only in this browser's local storage, so your draft comes back when you return. It's never uploaded. Click Clear to delete it.
Why doesn't a single line break show?
In Markdown, a single line break is joined to the previous line. Leave a blank line between paragraphs, end a line with two spaces, or tick Line breaks as <br>.
Can I use HTML inside Markdown?
Yes, most HTML tags work. Scripts, styles and event attributes are removed for safety.
Does it highlight code?
Code blocks are shown in a monospace font, without syntax colors.
