Favicon Generator

Turn a logo, a couple of letters or an emoji into every icon a website needs: favicon.ico, PNGs for browsers and Android, the Apple touch icon and a web app manifest, plus the HTML to paste into your page. Everything is made in your browser and downloaded as one ZIP.

How to use the Favicon Generator

  1. Choose Image and drop a square logo (SVG or PNG, at least 512 × 512 is best), or choose Text and type up to 3 letters or an emoji.
  2. Adjust the background, corners and padding, and check the preview at real sizes, including a browser tab.
  3. Click Download ZIP and unzip the files into your website's root folder.
  4. Copy the HTML tags into the <head> of your pages.

Tips for a sharp favicon

  • Start from a square image. If your logo isn't square, crop it first with Crop Image on our sister site, curlytab.
  • At 16 pixels, detail disappears. Use a simple mark, one or two letters, or a bold symbol rather than your full logo.
  • Strong contrast reads well on both light and dark browser themes.
  • Apple fills transparent areas with black, so the Apple icon always gets your background color.
  • Browsers cache favicons hard. If you don't see a new one, open the icon's URL directly or try a private window.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The icons are drawn on a canvas in your browser and zipped on your device.

Can I convert PNG to ICO?

Yes. Drop your PNG and download the ZIP: favicon.ico inside holds 16, 32 and 48 pixel versions.

Do I still need favicon.ico?

Modern browsers use the PNG links, but some tools, RSS readers and older browsers still ask for /favicon.ico, so it's worth including.

Can I use an emoji as a favicon?

Yes. Choose Text, paste an emoji, and pick a background or none. The emoji is drawn with your system's emoji font.
